Duration: 3 hours Format: Face-to-face, interactive workshop Audience: Early years professionals, parents and families Part 1: The Foundation of Safety and Security Creating a Safe Environment: Interactive discussion on the importance of safety and security in early childhood development. Participants will assess their current settings and identify areas for improvement. The Role of Unconditional Love: Workshop on expressing warmth and professional love in early years settings, including practical exercises on enhancing emotional support and connection with children. Part 2: Enabling Environments for Emotional Regulation Supporting Emotional Regulation: Strategies for creating calm, retreat spaces where children can safely explore and express their emotions. Group activity to design a "calm corner" or "safe space" tailored to their settings. Continuous Provision and Hygge: Exploration of continuous provision and the Danish concept of Hygge as means to create cosy, welcoming environments. Participants will brainstorm ways to incorporate these concepts into their daily practices. Part 3: Mindful Practices for Today's Happiness and Tomorrow's Growth Mindfulness in Early Years: Introduction to mindfulness practices suitable for young children. Interactive session on integrating mindfulness into daily routines for better emotional and behavioural outcomes. Assessing and Enhancing Provision: Techniques for evaluating current provisions to ensure they meet children's needs. Workshop on planning and implementing improvements for immediate and long-term child wellbeing. Closing: Summarisation of key strategies to create safe and mindful settings, Q&A session, and guidance on further resources. Participants will leave with actionable plans to transform their early years environment into a secure, nurturing space conducive to children's thriving. This concise yet comprehensive session is designed to empower your team with the knowledge and skills to foster a supportive, mindful, and secure setting for the children in your care.
