Interactive discussion on the implications for children's behaviour and emotions. Child's Unique Context: Explore the impact of each child's situation, background, demographics, and family life on their behaviour through case studies and group discussions. Part 2: Emotional Regulation and Co-regulation Complex Emotions in Children: Discussion of the challenges children face in managing complex emotions. Introduction to the concepts of self-regulation and co-regulation. Supporting Self-Regulation: Practical exercises on how staff can aid in co-regulation, fostering a child's ability to develop appropriate emotions and behaviours. Attachment and Strategies: Insights into attachment theory and effective strategies for children and parents struggling with emotional regulation. Part 3: Early Intervention and Conflict Management The Role of Early Intervention: Importance of identifying at-risk children early. Discussion on the indicators of behavioural concerns. Understanding and Managing Conflict: Examination of conflict in the early years setting, including the significance of understanding social and emotional development, and practical conflict management strategies with a focus on restorative practices. Part 4: Rethinking Behaviour Policies Challenging Traditional Policies: Interactive dialogue on the need for organisations to move away from traditional behaviour management to more relational and restorative approaches. Implementing Relational Approaches: Strategies for integrating relational and restorative practices into existing behaviour policies, ensuring a supportive, empathetic early years environment. Closing: Recap of key learnings, Q&A, and discussion on implementing new strategies within their teams. This session is designed to be highly interactive, with discussions, case studies, and practical exercises to ensure that participants can apply the concepts learned to their everyday practice.
